Transportation Coordinator: Bob Turner
History
The Dial-A-Ride Program was established in the late 80’s by The Senior Center of Elk Grove, Inc.’s board of directors after identifying transportation as a need of the senior community in Elk Grove. The program continues to be successful because of partnerships with community businesses, government agencies and the private donors.
Dial-A-Ride provides affordable transportation to seniors who live in the Elk Grove and Southern Sacramento communities. The door-to-door services allows our seniors the opportunity to participate in programs at the Senior Center of Elk Grove (SCEG) and to stay connected to their community with access to medical/dental professionals, shopping, and banking services. This promotes independence and adds to their quality of life.
Door-to-Door Service
Our volunteer drivers provide prompt, courteous service from the seniors home to the senior center or the location of their appointment.
Our vans are equipped with phones for any possible emergency service.
Partnerships
SCEG has partnered with United Way, The City of Elk Grove, The Cosumnes Community Services District, Area 4 Agency on Aging, local businesses and many individuals to provide this affordable service.
Excellence in Safety Award
SCEG continues to receive the Excellence in Safety Award given by The Non Profits United Vehicle Insurance Pool. This award is presented to agencies who maintain a superior driving record.
